Using the suggestions listed only PART of my favourites ( A to N) came across from IE - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-internet-explorer

Using the step by step instructions from the above article - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-internet-explorer - I am still unable to import ALL my favorites from IE; only those beginning with the alphabets A to E (so just over 50%) are imported to a file at the bottom of Bookmarks entitled 'From Internet Explorer) - I tried unsuccessfully three times; A to N only were imported three times. Nor did the suggestions to import manually from IE (same computer) work either. Any more suggestions?

Try doing it this way.

In IE:
File > Import/Export - Export to HTML file

then in Firefox:
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup --> Import Bookmarks from HTML file

It worked, thanks. Now I'll need to go through all my bookmarks and delete duplicates/triplicates where necessary. When I save files to my favourites on IE in future, will I need to go through this same painstaking process ie deleting doubles etc?

Again, many thanks for your prompt assistance.

Firefox bookmarks aren't linked to IE Favorites, so if you would save a new bookmark to Firefox or a new Favorite to IE it won't be in the other browser. You would need a program like X-marks to synchronize favorites / bookmarks.

Or you could just use your Favorites in Firefox.

I can not open IE, which is why I need to import them to Mozilla. I have tried several times (as did the other person) and still cannot get anything past E to come over. Please offer a suggestion where I do not need to go into IE to start.
