i've tried F11 and have right clicked and toggled Menu Bar option on and off.

Right click near the back and forward button and then uncheck "Menu Bar" which should fix the issue.
it just shows me the previous "back" pages. if i go a little more right and toggle Menu Bar on and off, it does nothing.
You can check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.
the button goes away when i get rid of my AOL toolbar. but when i put it back, the button doesn't come back.
i'll have to try that corrupt thing.
