Windows disappear when I use the ctrl key. How do I fix this?
When I try to execute a function involving the CTRL key open windows will disappear, losing data. I may have several windows open and may be looking for information in cross reference to a topic or subject. I might use the CTRL + F function or CTRL + C and before the function is executed the window I'm in will disappear. I notice just pressing CTRL before getting to any of the functions will cause this problem. Is there a way to fix this?
I am using Windows XP Professional, V 2002, SP 3
Thank you,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you for responding I have Firefox in Safe Mode now. I will be tooling around to see what's up. I forgot to mention that when I type and use the shift key for uppercase a JavaScript Scatchpad window opens... it never ends...
Unfortunately the problem still exists. I had two extensions, one of which was not compatible with Firefox. That one I disabled (could not remove) The other I accidentally removed but the problem persisted. Not sure what to do now short of downloading another version of Firefox. I'm currently using V 19.0.2
Thanx, msuner
Update
This is happening in other browsers as well. Back to the drawing board.
Sorry for the trouble...
