Firefox KEEPS crashing several times a day
I do not want to go through hundreds of checks, installs, uninstalls, safe modes, troubleshootings, you name it..
I simply want to have a STABLE web browser, being STABLE with whatever I do on my computer. Good browser = STABLE browser.
With every Firefox update it gets worse and worse. It keeps crashing several times a day. I do a lot of audio and video streaming. When it crashes , I have to listen / watch from the beginning.
This is no longer frustrating but seriously annoying.
I need a ONE permanent fix.
Otherwise , I have to to go to elsewhere.
can anyone help.
And BTW - those crash notifications saying "how embarrassing" are equally annoying. Get real, Modzila - your constant apologies and feeling embarrassed or guilty do NOT get you off the hook!!!
I'm seriously fed up with your browser constantly crashing. Where are your engineers?????????

hello, could you provide your latest few submitted crash reports? please enter about:crashes into the location bar, copy the latest few report ids from there & paste them here into a forum reply. this will give us a better understanding what may be triggering those crashes.
Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
To disable Hardware Acceleration perform these steps:
- Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
- In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
- In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
- Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems
Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you.
tHANKS I unchecked graphics acceleration long time ago.

hello, this crash may be caused by the norton confidential component of your security suite. please run symantec's liveupdate repeatedly to make sure that you're on the latest version & in case this doesn't help please also report the issue to norton's support...
I believe I have the current version, but will talk to Symantec today.
Thanks Philipp
Also the VLC plugin could be causing issues, if you dont use it you should disable it by going to Firefox Button > Addons > Plugins and disable the VLC Plugin.
yes, in the bug report that's on file at mozilla it is also stated that the crashes are still happening with the latest versions of norton confidential: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=812186
i don't know much about norton's software myself, but maybe it will be possible somewhere in the options of the program to totally switch off the norton confidential component. if that would be possible, it's certainly worth a try and see if this is making a difference...
Just checked - I don't have a VLC plugin - don't even know what it is.
will talk to Symantec re the confidential component.
thanks
also include the Bugzilla link that Philipp posted
