I tried to select "restore previous session," but because Firefox automatically started uploading the update, there was no previous session to restore. How do I go back?

What do you want to restore if there is nothing to restore?
Are there any items in History > Recently Closed Tabs/Windows?
You can try to restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js file.
- Right-click: Properties > Previous Versions
