Hello,

For the last couple of months, whenever I view a photo in Facebook by clicking on it in my Tiimeline or elsewhere, the photo is oddly offset in the larger viewing window that pops up. I've attached a screenshot to show what I see. As you can see, half of the photo is in the area where it's supposed to be, next to the comments sections, but half is below the area where it's supposed to be, which means I have to scroll up and down to view both the photo and the comments, plus when I hover on the picture to bring up the options bar, the options bar ends up in the middle of the photo.

This happens on my laptop running Windows 8.1. It is not happening (at least not noticeably, though perhaps some photos are slightly off) on my desktop running Windows XP Pro. Both are updated to the latest FF version.....the automated information from this forum says it's 25.0.1, but my Firefox "about" window says it's 26.0. for both.

I've tried clearing the cache. I've tried starting FF in safe mode with add-ons disabled I've tried it in the default skin

Nothing changes this problem.

I get no error messages at any time.

The pictures display properly using Chrome and IE from the laptop (Windows 8.1). It's only in Firefox that they display this way.

Any suggestions?

Here is the screenshot since I did not see a way to add it to my original post.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

It does work correctly in a clean test profile.

But how would I know what files are corrupt?? Because I have a highly customized FF browser, how would I even go about transferring all my add-ons to a new profile? Or are those the "files" you are talking about?

I'm not sure this is a drastic enough problem to justify rebuilding your whole profile.

To see whether it's likely to be caused by an extension, do you want to try your old profile in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

Oh wait, you already said you still have the issue in Safe Mode...

I'm curious whether using text-only zoom is a factor here. Does it make any difference if you switch that off?

(Tap the Alt key if necessary to display the classic menu bar)
View menu > Zoom > uncheck Zoom Text Only

Any difference?

Wooo! That did it! When I turned that off, EVERYTHING was microscopic, lol....but when I enlarged everything with the "text only" turned off, to where I could actually see stuff, the photos were aligned correctly when clicked on.

Thanks!  :)

You can reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

  • View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Command+0 on Mac)

You can rename the content-prefs.sqlite file to content-prefs.sqlite.old (or delete the file) in the Firefox profile folder to reset the page zoom for all websites.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
