Can I set zoom to middle click?

I would like to set it so that when I click the middle mouse button, I can zoom in or out with the scroll wheel without having to hold it down. Then, when I middle-click again, the scroll wheel goes back to scrolling up and down the web page. How would I go about doing this? I'm open to editing about:config, using an add-on, or even installing an external program.

I don't think there is a built-in way to do that, at least as of Firefox 28. Maybe there's an add-on.

Do you find it inconvenient to hold down the Ctrl key while you scroll the wheel to zoom the page?

My setup is in the living room with my mouse on the couch arm rest, so when I'm browsing, it's a little inconvenient to lean forward to the coffee table every time I want to zoom and the keyboard has terrible wireless range. But I did find an add-on (Mouse Control) that at least lets me zoom by holding the middle mouse button.
