how to delete temporary files?

I have 2 email accounts. To save time logging in to them, I've had the sites remember my passwords. Now I don't want them to remember the password. Instead, for security reasons, I want to type in the password each time I log in. How do I delete the remembered passwords from those email sites?

There are two ways Firefox can log you into a site automatically.

One is to save your passwords in Firefox's Password Manager. To clear logins saved that way, you can use the Options dialog:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Security > "Saved Passwords"

A second way is to let the site set a persistent cookie. Usually Firefox will retain this cookie until the expiration date set by the site. If you use the site's logout link, then the cookie should be removed or invalidated by the site. If that doesn't seem to be working, you can remove the site's cookies manually.

Please save any pending work first. Then, while viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. You should be logged out.
