Email account has a padlock icon next to it. How do I remove that?
Next to my "get mail" envelope icon is a padlock and I cannot get my mail. How do I remove the padlock? It worked less than 24 hours ago!

The padlock indicates that the account is setup to use a secure connection. Unless your email provider does not support this option, it has noting to do with your inability to receive mail
I would get a list of current server settings from your provider and compare those with what you have in Thunderbird.
