2-Step Authorization: App Passwords not saving by Thunderbird

I recently( last week )changed both of my gmail accounts to use 2-step authorization.

Meaning I had to create app passwords to use Thunderbird on my various Win7/Win8 machines.

On my Win8 laptop, I've been having issues with Thunderbird 24.4.0 remembering the app-specific passwords generated using my Google accounts. It seems to forget them at random, despite my checking 'Remember this password' when entering the app-specific password box needed when logging in for mail.

So far I am having to generate an app password for the one account several times a day, which is frustrating. I've saved more than a few of them in a password manager and re-copied them, in the hopes that they will save properly. Despite them being 'active' and non-revoked, each time has been unsuccessful and I've had to revoke the password to start afresh.

I don't want to go back to simple authorization, but having to generate a new app password every few hours is not going to work for me. Is there a way I can 'reset' the password-saving feature of one of my accounts in Thunderbird, to fix this issue? Or come up with a way that the app-specific passwords will STAY saved?

Thanks in advance, please let me know if there's any more info I can provide.
