I imported my favorites from IE, but many are not in Firefox bookmarks
I have hundreds of IE 11 favorites in about 20 folders. Many of these are already in Firebox, but there are numerous new favorites in IE which are not yet in Firefox. I am trying to bring all the IE favorites into Firefox, and would prefer to keep those in Firefox which may not be in IE. I have exported an html file, which looks good and complete to me when I open it in a the IE browser, the Ff browser or when I view it in notepad++. I have imported this into Firefox bookmarks, but it looks like the bookmarks list remains unchanged. I am running Windows 7 sp1, and have the latest version of Firefox (29). How can I import a large html file of favorites?

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.
- Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):
File > Import and Export - Import the HTML file in Firefox:
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML
See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":
as I stated in my post, I tried that cookbook solution before posting. thanks Ed
Are all those folders and files in the HTML file?
You can open the HTML file in a browser tab via Firefox > New Tab > New Tab
yes, they are in an html file and yes, the links work from the html file. Good to know. So, why does it not import into bookmarks? If there are actual limits to the import function, e.g. # of folders, # of entries within a folder, # of characters or whatever, those limits should be documented by Mozilla. ed
You can check what is in the HTML file around the position where the import stops to see if you can identify the cause and possibly modify this bookmarks URL or title.
