I can open Firefox and it works fine on my (admin) user account, as it has for years.

Starting today, when my wife is logged in on her account/user on the Mac, when trying to open Firefox there is a prompt "Firefox is trying to install a new helper tool" and requests the admin name and password. I authorized yes to install the helper tool, and then the Firefox icon bounces on the dock indefinitely and Firefox is "not responding" and never opens. If I force quit and try again, I get the same prompt to install the helper tool and the cycle begins again.

I think this started after I updated a BitWarden extension on Firefox on my wife's account, but not sure if that is what provoked the problem. The same Bitwarden extension exists on Firefox on the admin account, and that Firefox works fine.

What I have tried so far: Shut down all BitWarden apps. Refreshed Firefox on the admin account - which deletes the BitWarden extension. Moved Firefox to the trash. Restart the computer. Re-install Firefox from the admin account (Firefox again works just fine when admin is the user). But Firefox still does not work when another user (my wife) is on her account - same issue with asking to install a helper tool and Firefox never opens.

Hardware: MacBook Air M2, Seqouia 15.1

Any help is much appreciated.

Hey all,

After a fresh windows install I ran in to an issue where Firefox has issues playing back videos. It is most noticeable on Reddit, but other video sites that are not Youtube (for some reason Youtube videos, even when embedded in Reddit) have the same issue.

What happens is: a video shows the first frame. I press play and it plays at an extremely low rate 1 frame every few seconds, I can't really tell whether it goes from frame 1 to 2, but it definitely does not go from 1 to 1+(time past * frame rate). Another symptom that seems to be reddit embedded video specific is that after some time it says "video not available."

Videos do play for a very short while after rebooting, and clearing cookies also seems to help, however after some time even clearing cookies has the video stopping again.

I ran the profiler for media on a completely fresh profile with no addins. I found a video, started the profiler and pressed play. I let it run for 2 frame changes and after that I stopped the profiler. I'm not able to really interpret what is going on, but I hope that someone can.

I've shared device/troubleshooting info.

Windows and Firefox are installed on a 1TB Samsung Evo 970, which I think may be the only relevant bit of info that's not in there.

If there is any other info that I can provide I am happy to do so.

Hallo Wenn ich in Firefox eine Seite Öffne kommt sofort eine Betrugsversuchsmeldung von meinem Bitdefender Internet Security Programm. Inzwischen fast 500 mal seit 14 Tagen.

I noticed that after Norton updated their Anti Virus to 24.10.9535, that I sometimes get a message that says "Connection verified by a certificate issuer that is not recognized by Mozilla", when I click on the Lock Icon. I never saw this before the Norton Graphics User Interface was updated to the most current one. I tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, but No change. With some websites, for instance https://support.mozilla.org, I see the normal "Connection secure >", right underneath the "Site information for support.mozilla.org". But with something like: https://www.att.com, I see the error that I never saw before. I sent a message to Norton with this information too, but I don't know if they will respond or not. I know that I'm still getting the "Connection secure >", above the error, but it bothers me to see that error underneath. I am on Windows 10, using Firefox 132.0.2, at the moment. Also, Windows 10 is version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.5131), so I have all the latest patches. On my Windows 11 PC, that Norton is still using GUI version 22.24.8.36, I Never see this error. (Windows 11 is on the newest Windows version, with all patches installed; and Firefox is version 132.0.2)
