Gmail will not load in Firefox browser. I can get it in IE. I have disabled add-ons, extensions, reset theme to default, renamed extensions.?? files, re-started in safe mode, and a few other options, but it still won't load. Get "The connection was interrupted The connection to www.google.com was interrupted while the page was loading." However, I can go to www.google.com, but can't get to the login page or gmail link. I can get to other links there.

URL of affected sites

http://www.gmail.com, https://mail.google.com

Gekose oplossing

I had the same problem since this Wednesday afternoon. I cleared the recent history as suggested and that worked for me. I also solved my problem to display Google Calendar (that one I had since a month at least).

Thank you

I had the same problem and as Jaybee mentioned. I ONLY have problems to load gmail when I use 3 mobile broadband service (in the UK) with Firefox 3.6.15. I reckon that 3 is doing something stupid with the connection (although should it be encrypted?). Since it worked with other browsers on the same connection, I thought this might be related to the user-agent, so I've installed the user-agent switcher plugin, and set it to IE 8 (in tools -> default user agent -> internet explorer -> IE8. After that I was able to access gmail (I think I had to refresh the page twice). Gmail rendered in basic view (probably because it gets very confused with the fake user-agent), but after this, I could revert to the default user agent, refresh the tab with gmail, and it displayed the standard, rich UI.

I reckon that most of us have this problem because some ISPs do something extremely silly with the connection / headers.

You guys tried to take a look @ AdBlockPlus. When I disabled some rules everything worked fine. So I Hope This could be a solution to all of you.

Peace!

Hello everybody! I FOUND the solution to this mystery AT LAST!!!! Non of those offered solutions eradicates this problem, but this one! Now, all of you who DID SUFFER (PAIN, A REAL PAIN) from this gmail issue, read this simple solution! "Disable ALL automatic updates!" Just this! believe me! I've tested this for thousands of times; tested every possible option, and found that while lovely Firefox checks for updates (usually at browser start ups), it fails to load certain pages, which gmail is the most prominent, painful one it fails to load. You can check this by choosing the "About Firefox" menu and see this very strange case yourself while Firefox checks for updates. Right after Firefox finishes checking for updates, it gently loads the stuck gmail 20x faster than IE or any other browser. THANK GOD now I can check my gmail via Firefox!!! (and you 600 other people!)

-)
