I have two email accounts in Thunderbird. One is a Gmail account and the other is Cox account. The issue I am having is that emails sent to the Gmail id account are showing up in the Cox email Inbox and vice versa. My question is...how can I get Thunderbird to only show the emails sent to the specific email id? thanks

If your using IMAP account, remove and reconnect it.

If your using POP3 account, take backup of your content, remove the account and reconnect it.

I did as you suggested and deleted both accounts and the problem still exists. As an FYI both accounts are setup as Imap accounts. Any other suggestions?
