Outlook.com not working well with Thunderbird - best webmail to use w/Thunderbird?

I used to use my ISP's email with Thunderbird - never ANY problems. Recently, I got a new computer running Windows 8.1 and at roughly the same time, dropped my ISP and decided to go with a webmail account so no matter who my ISP is, I don't have to change my email again. I chose outlook.com. I have everything set up correctly, I believe, but I still have all kinds of things not getting to me. The problem is that they aren't being put into my Thunderbird Junk folder so I can see it and check them. They are being sent directly to Deleted/Trash. I suspect they are going to the Junk folder on outlook.com, but when it syncs with Thunderbird, they wind up in Deleted. And even if I mark things as not junk (on both Thunderbird AND outlook.com), some are still winding up being trashed.

So! What webmail works WELL with Thunderbird and doesn't have these issues? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hmm, I have an outlook.com account set up as IMAP. Just to test really. Occasionally it gets a refused login, but that is about it.

Mails going directly to the trash are usually a sign of "internet security suite" spam filtering. Not5 Thunderbird or Outlook,

Thanks Matt. I'm set up with IMAP too. Just checked my Norton settings and the email spam filtering was indeed on. Just turned it off and will see if this gets better now. Thank you!
