images not showing in email

The images that I embed into the emails are not able to be viewed by myself. I have been doing this for the last three years and all of a sudden I cannot no longer do this. I create emails with embedded images and store them in my drafts folder. When I need them I will highlight them and forward them to the appropriate address. Even when the folder is sent to me form me then I still cannot see the image. I have checked view as html and display inline image. I have checked the box under preferences to view images in email. The images are there as attachments but I cannot see them.

The images are not loading from Thunderbird. I can see images when they are sent to me from gmail, mac mail that I send to myself. My second email account in Thunderbird (linked to ATT) will load images. My main mail email account in Thunderbird (linked to gmail) stopped loading images.

re: I create emails with embedded images........ The images are there as attachments but I cannot see them.

If they were inserted as embedded in content, but they now appear as Attachments, then this sounds like you are creating the email in HTML but sending in Plain Text.

Please check settings: Tools > Options > Composition > General tab click on 'Send options' button select: 'Send the message in both plain text and HTML

If this is already selected make sure there are no exceptions in the 'Plain text domains' tab. click on OK click on OK to close Options.

check your 'Address Book' to see if you have selected your gmail address to only use 'Plain Text'.

OK did all of that. Cannot see the embedded photo in either email account. Under tools I have no options. I have to go to tools> accounts>composition & addressing>global composing preferences>configure text format behavior>send options & html/plain text exceptions are both empty still no picture either when I save or when I receive I added gmail to receive in html in address book only see an empty square when I receive the email TB and when I save it in drafts.

re: Under tools I have no options. That's because you have not enabled the toolbars. Virtually all help refers to the toolbars. the developers decided to not make them as default a couple of versions ago, which can make it very confusing for anyone trying to use help articles etc.

Some tools need the toolbars to access them.

Options can be accessed: From toolbar: Tools > Options From menu icon 3bar menu icon > Options > Options

or via the method you used.

You can switch on toolbars - if you want. 3bar menu icon > Options and select all the toolbars: Menu Bar Mail toolbar Quick Filter Bar Status bar

re :send options & html/plain text exceptions are both empty

You do not mention what option you have selected to send by : select: 'Send the message in both plain text and HTML' Do you have option selected?

In your Address Book locate all entries of your name with gmail address Check does it say 'Prefers to receive messages formatted as 'Plain text' ? change to 'unknown' as this will allow both.

Check also: Tools > Account Settings > Composition & addressing for the gmail account select: 'Compose messages in HTML format' click on OK

Was this selected?

changed the address book from html to unknown. I read the link you posted. I have a mac and they are right about TB is not reading what gmail sends back. This explains why I cannot save the drafts in gmail. And why I still do not see the image. I added the extension lookout. This did not work.
