Add-on Causes Firefox Malfunction that I Cannot Fix

I had seen Omnibar, and despite the reviews, I thought it would be a good thing for me, so I can merge the Search Bar and the Address Bar, like in Chrome.

I thought it would work with my Firefox, even though I have Classic Theme Restorer, and now, when I try to go to Customize, it just won't load at all!

Now, whenever I try to right click at the top of the browser, and click on Customize, the Customize tab won't even open, even AFTER removing and uninstalling Omnibar.

If it even DOES open, it won't load. It's just a white screen.

Can someone help?

Try to reset the browser.uiCustomization.state pref on the about:config page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

You can also check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
