rudimentary trouble shooting: 1. I am able to access my email via web mail 2. I am able to access my email via a PC at work using windows 7 and symantec antivirus

the settings for thunderbird 31.1.1 at work and home PC are: pop.verizon.net port 995

  • username*

SSL/TLS Normal password

Outgoing server (SMTP) Settings verizon Online-smtp.verzon.net port 465

  • username*

normal password SSL/TLS

So i assume this means my email is either being blocked by my ISP (time warner cable) or some sort of firewall using windows firewall and avast free anti-virus

have tried disabling avast to no avail.

any help would be appreciated, not sure what next in terms of tests or need for settings thanks

Are you certain you do have the correct server settings? http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/verizon/mail/ymail/basics/mail-12859445.html#mozthunderbird If in doubt, check with Verizon.

What error message do you get?

thank you for your reply i am certain i have the correct server settings as they worked the day before and they work now on my PC at work (verizon ISP), but not at home (time warner cable ISP). i do not use verizon/yahoo. having terminated my residential service due to a move to non-verizon serviced area, i maintained the verizon email domain.

i do not get an error message per se i get the following line in the bottom of the thunderbird window: connected to pop.verizon.net which lasts for a while then goes away without retrieving any email

have tried verizon tech boards to no avail will have to call during day, which is difficult...
