Until recently I have had Firefox and it worked great, but I started having problems about two weeks ago. I uninstalled it and reinstalled; it worked for a few days and now it won't work anymore. I need this for my classes. Please help me. I have Windows 8. Thank you Donna Faucette

When you start Firefox, what happens? Does the window appear but no pages will load? Or do you get an error message? Or just...nothing?

You could try starting Firefox in its Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift key when double-clicking the Firefox shortcut.

A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any improvement?

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
