I just opened Firefox and read: "Congratulations! You just updated Download Helper." I don't want to "just update" ANYTHING. How do I undo that and prevent it happening again?

Hi Go to Tools > add-ons > Extensions and on "Download Helper" you should see a link that reads "More" - click it - and you should now see a page with three (3) radio buttons "default", "on" and "off"..... That should take care of that problem (I hope)

The Mozilla Add-ons site is implementing a protocol where extensions will need to be signed with a certificate authenticating them. All extensions you installed from the site are scheduled to update for that reason. Some of them may show an update page in the process, but probably most won't.

This kind of mass updating is unlikely to happen again in the future.

Thank you!

Note that you should update extensions to make sure that you have the latest version. In most cases this is needed to ensure that the extension keeps working after you update Firefox and in case of the VDH extension that you can save media files from YouTube (the site frequently changes its code that make an extension stop working).

Recently all extensions hosted on the Add-ons site got signed like Jscher2000 wrote and that caused a mass update of all of them.

I just want to say that I concur with Jscher2000 and cor-el about the Add-ons update. Better to have the latest than suddenly going "What the....." when things stop working and having to figure out why........

P.S.
I know I probably should have written "problem" or even used a better way to put it all together.
