Thunderbird will not accept our password on our e-mail

For at least 3 months, we have had problems logging on to our e-mail account. After several attemps, sometimes it has accepted our password but most of the time, we are out of communication for many days. The e-mails do come in on our Ipad. What is wrong, we are at our wits end.

Also, some of our incoming mail is addressed to "baggenstossy" instead of baggenstoss
