Have not been able to receive emails in Thunderbird although they are being received in webmail and on host server. It was suggest to remove the email account from Thunderbird and then add it back, but during mail account setup in trying to add the account back a message is received saying "Configuration cannot be verified- is username or password incorrect?" although correct username and password are being used. How can this be fixed?

Hi SeanMax, Windows or Mac? I assume you are on Windows. Are you using an IMAP or POP account? Is the problem both with receiving and sending emails?

You probably already know all this, but in addition to the username & password, there are other parameters that must be specified. Oftimes Thunderbird automatically chooses the correct ones, but sometimes it doesn't. Also, some email servers have odd quirks; for example, the office365.com mail servers require a username that includes the full address, with the "@" sign, which is unlike most other providers.

Check with your provider what your server name/address, port, connection security, and authentication mode should be (for both receiving and SMTP outgoing), and then look in your server settings to make sure that's how it's set up (Tools-->Account Settings). Don't forget that the SMTP outgoing server settings are in a separate area down near the bottom of the left panel in the Account Settings dialogue.

Hope this helps, Norio
