Can I go back to 2.0.0.24 from 38.0.1? Tool bars take excessive space: Subject bar not minimizable and attachments take separate tool bar rather than in line.
The 38 version has massive space around titles and around tool bars; the "subject" bar takes massive space and is no longer minimizable and the attachments show in a new bottom tool bar rather than in the subject bar like the TO, FROM and SIZE.
That makes the useful text reading or picture very small. See picture shown on the 2 different screen pictures.
Thanks Eddie V

It looks to me like you have not yet installed https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/compactheader/
THANK YOU WAYNE. That addon got the + and - back on the subject bar freeing much needed content space.
That leaves the 'attachment bar' at the bottom which is just a minor inconvenience, taking little vertical space. In the old system, that was simply an item in the incoming email properties list.
Again, thank you very much for your excellent help. Best to you, Eddie

Your screen pictures didn't get posted. So I do not understand what you mean by "massive space around titles and around tool bars". Can you post your pictures using "Add images:"?
> the "subject" bar takes massive space

Wayne, I hope this is clear enough. The right image is of the same photo parked as far up as I could. Notice the beer in the left image on Old Thunderbird, that excellent program! Thanks, Eddie
The addon has a 2 line header mode that will be a big fix.
If you really want Max viewing space I suggest you disable status bar at View | toolbar and perhaps menu bar and the same location. Hitting ALT key temporariy brings it back.
I've never seen the problem you describe about the extra space above the menu. Perhaps it's because of the theme. A. disable any installed theme. B. make sure all your addons are up to date. If both fail, start thunderbird in safe mode and post a new screen shot using the instructions at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem (your picture is too dark)

== Thanks Wayne, that only helps a little .. the subject bar remains vertically massive and the new attachments-bar remains. I attach a color picture of the little screen space with the new Thunderbird. Eddie
