Firefox is hanging and Shockwave flash player is the cause. What to do?
Firefox is hanging at sites like www.kongregate.com which use Shockwave Flash player. I get the "unresponsive script" error and nothing is helping. I've already reinstalled Firefox and Shockwave. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration and Adobe Flash protected mode (it was already disabled both in Add-ons and about:config). I've tried changing dom.max_script_run_time to 20. Everything works fine when I disable Shockwave but then I can't play most of the browser based games. Then again it might be the sites fault. I'm not sure what else to do. Help would be appreciated.

It's not the sites fault it also hangs on some others I just checked.
You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and hardware acceleration in Firefox and try this:
- make sure you have the latest Flash version:
http://www.adobe.com/special/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html - check for updates for your graphics drive drivers
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration - disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Windows Vista and later)
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/adobe-flash-protected-mode-firefox - disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html - disable hardware acceleration in Firefox

I already tried all of the thing you mentioned. Everything is up to date and I've tried disabling anything that could be the cause but nothing is working.
The only thing that works is disabling the Shockwave Flash (since it's the reason why Firefox isn't working).
I just uninstalled Flash and did a clean install but it's still hanging on various sites as long as Shockwave Flash is on.
I am having the Shockwave lockup problem AGAIN. Right after a Firefox update, anything that required Shockwave locks up Firefox. Checking my add ons it says that Shockwave has been blocked and needs to be updated. I updated Shockwave, no change. This is exactly the same problem I had about a month ago. Come Mozilla knock it off. Fix this problem. Don't force me to go to Chrome.
same here - have done all the disabling and updating despite the fact everything was current but the unresponsive plug in window comes up almost any page, going to adobe is useless because those pages require flash to work and it isn't working, what's going on??
can Shockwave be disabled? it is to the point that I can not use Firefox any longer unless there is a fix to this problem. the Shockwave hang-up is occurring daily
You can disable it by going to the menu at the upper right (3 Horiz bars) and go click on add ons. Find Flash and set it to never activate or ask to activate. It solved the problem for me. I noticed there is a newer version of flash out. Updating may also solve the problem.
