after cleanup of old and unused versions of firefox, bookmarks and passwords are gone in my current version.
I was cleaning out my PC, and found an old Firefox version 28 which I removed, but telling it not to remove any personal data (bookmarks, passwords, etc...) I then also removed Aurora and Nightly, but with Aurora I did not pay attention and removed the Aurora personal files. I had my Firefox version 51 open, seeing my bookmarks and passwords still there intact. I then closed Firefox, and at a later time opened it again... and all the data is gone! How can I get my data back? Bookmarks, Passwords, etc...

Unless something ended up in your recycle bin . . . . . .
Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

That feature was for removing all Firefox data, when the user selected / 'check-marked' the box for that feature.
Plus, that feature was removed from Firefox quite awhile ago; around Firefox 37 or 38. Not that it would have made a difference when removing Aurora & Nightly; all your Profiles would have been deleted already when selecting that option in Firefox 28.
You would have to use an undelete utility to recover the deleted directory.
