Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer.
Can you retrieve the certificate for inspection?
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like the issuer of the certificate and the certificate chain.
- click "Advanced" to expand the error message
- click "Add Exception" to open "Add Security Exception"
If this isn't possible then open the Certificate Manager and go to the "Servers" tab.
- Options/Preferences -> Advanced -> Certificates: View Certificates -> Servers: "Add Exception"
- paste the URL of the website (https://xxx.xxx) in it's location field.
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate -> "Get Certificate"
- click the "View" button and inspect the certificate
You can see details like the issuer of the certificate and used intermediate certificates in the Details tab.

Currently I get a mixed content warning. Please see the attached screenshot showing what happens when I click the gray padlock with the yellow warning triangle on it. Is that what you're getting, or some other error?
That warning indicates some images in the page were retrieved over HTTP instead of HTTPS. Should you be concerned? It depends on whether you will be sending or receiving sensitive information on the page.
You can log in on this page which shows a green lock for me:
I'm not getting a mixed content warning if I open https://www.codechef.com/ in a Firefox tab (i.e. I have a green padlock).
