Why did your latest update foisted on my without warning completely screw up my screen layout and screw up some of my sites?
Your latest "update" is the worst of all your unsolicited "updates" so far. You've changed the layout of my screen, without my consent, and I hate the new version. I really hate the stupid side to side blue dot, which I find extremely distracting. You've shrunk my search window down to the point where I can only see one word at a time (no doubt to stick in more things I'll never use, like the useless "pocket" from one of your last brainstorms). There certainly is no increase in speed, and on several sites like the Weather Network, I can no longer set a location and have to use a convoluted process to access information.
I am not a tech wizard by any means, so please just give me the step-by-step instructions on how to rectify this mish-mash. Do not assume I know how to do anything close to what a nine-year-old can do, when writing the instructions, please.
Why in the world did you think you had to screw up my computer, and why in the world would you think I would be pleased with this? And...I am "being nice" because there are a lot of adverbs I could have employed throughout this message!
Your prompt attention and a solution would be greatly appreciated.

Put this way if they actually listened before doing what they did the Browser would allow Plugins, Addons to work but they have no solutions to fix your Addons that FF57 breaks. Just read all the Complaints from users and you get the idea. Mozilla for all the replies they done so far is to use a 52 version for Organizations but isn't the same as public FF versions. So they are setting FF up for failures from the starting gate. I went back to 56 and most are doing that because of the utter 57 failures. What they don't address is why they think legacy are the problem when it's toolbars that are the cause of Browser security lapse. Most users of Addons don't update at the rate of FF unless they rewrite it or get reported problems but that isn't for FF to do. So that's the other problem with FF they break the Addons but offer no solutions to restore the broken Addons to get the user Addons back.

Hi feduptoo, I'm sorry to hear the update was that disruptive for you. Some of the things you mentioned are very specific and I will have a suggestion. For others, I may need a little more information.
(1) I really hate the stupid side to side blue dot, which I find extremely distracting.
Would you like to change that back to the circling blue arrow or just get rid of the "tab throbber" altogether?
(2) You've shrunk my search window down to the point where I can only see one word at a time (no doubt to stick in more things I'll never use, like the useless "pocket" from one of your last brainstorms).
Normally there is a huge space for the address bar, but if you have a lot of add-on buttons, that may soak up some of it. If you set Firefox to show both the address bar and the search bar, each will be a little smaller.
You can reduce built-in buttons as follows:
(A) Buttons on the toolbar outside the address bar: right-click > Remove from Toolbar or right-click > Pin to Overflow Menu. The overflow menu button will appear at the right end and look somewhat like >>.
(B) Buttons inside the address bar (near the ••• menu): right-click > Remove from Address bar. Those functions will remain on the ••• menu.
(3) There certainly is no increase in speed, and on several sites like the Weather Network, I can no longer set a location and have to use a convoluted process to access information.
Do you mean this one: https://www.theweathernetwork.com/us
It let me set a location, but I don't know how that will end up getting saved because I don't have a login for the site??
Where is the process breaking down for you: when you click the white + on the blue square, do you get an overlay with a little blank to enter a city? And then if you submit that, does the site (after some delay) load the page for that city and then add it to the bar before the + button?
As a support volunteer, I appreciate your restraint.
You might already have discovered this, but just in case:
There is a "real" bookmarks menu button for the toolbar. You can add it from Customize, or use the "Library" button as described in the article linked below:
- Bookmarks in Firefox - section entitled: How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?

Mixing things up I see.
Addons does not refer to one thing but as a general term that groups together multiple separate things. What you are referring to are Extensions or rather the legacy extensions and not web extensions. https://addons.mozilla.org/faq
The word Plugins refers to NPAPI Plugins like say Flash Player, Silverlight and Java.
Though starting with Firefox 52 and later Releases only the Flash Player Plugin is allowed to run in 32-bit and 64-bit Firefox whether on Windows, Mac OSX (only 64-bit version available), or Linux. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/npapi-plugins
Firefox 52 ESR is based on the Firefox 52 Release but with security and allowed stability fixes as ESR stands for Extended Support Release. Earlier on ESR was intended more for organizations in mind however Mozilla does tell users to use it in some cases like for WInXP?Vista users since Firefox 53.0 and later dropped support for the EOL WinXP/Vista.
Thanks, all for your suggestions! I have not replied previously because I turned the computer off and avoided it like the plague, out of sheer frustration. Hopefully, I can take your input and figure this out. Thanks again.

Sorry, Pkshadow. If I knew how to delete it, I would. I will never post again. Please ignore the "blaring" as no abuse was intended by any means. Any further problems will be dealt with, without the forum. Once again, all suggestions were greatly appreciated.
Since you are ending the conversation at this point, I'll just share a follow-up on this part:
