NewTab Top Sites Icon/Boxes Are Too Small, Get Rid Of Ugly New Icon That Says "Top Sites" With The Little Boxes, Letters Ugly, Rearrange Top Sites, X Button

So I hate

- how the new tabs top sites icons are so small. How do I make them really big boxes like I had it previously?

- the part that says "Top Sites" with the ugly little boxes to the side of it. That needs to go.

- how it assigns it a letter if the website doesn't have an image it uses. Needs to go.

- how I'm unable to rearrange the order of the top sites like I used to.

- how there isn't an X button to remove things asap.

The whole thing reminds me of social media garbage that I don't want forced down my throat. Then to top it off, I have to play mental gymnastics trying to figure out how to sort out all these icons on something that supposed to make things easier. Like wtf man?

So is there a way to fix all of this?

Chosen solution

No idea what Letter you are talking about as I do not use what you use, I hate little boxes and things that load that I do not want. I detest it and Win10 interface, it is gone and I do what I want.

It also assigns the letter when it hasn't loaded the image yet as well. How nice and ugly.

I would draw your attention to the part of the first linked article about switching back to the earlier new tab page design by disabling the "Activity Stream." For the record:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste newt and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

You likely need to reload (Ctrl+r) any open new tab page to see a change.

Ahh.. I did go through that howtogeek link previously that I found from somewhere but skimmed a little too fast by that part. I reverted it back with browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled to false and refreshed it. Worked!

Both helped a lot. Thanks!
