Getting mailbox full message but can't delete messages as I get an error saying it can't do it because the mailbox is full. Going around in circles!

I'm getting emails sent that are bouncing with a message that my mailbox is full. Trying to delete message but then getting a message that I cant complete the action because the mailbox is full

Chosen solution

hold shift while you delete. That immediately deletes instead of copying to the trash. That might bypass the circle.

Also emptying my trash helped ....Doh!!
