I recently realized that Amazon account stays logged in after closing the tab to it, unless the entire browser is closed, maybe restore session does to, not sure. Only specifically logging out on the Amazon account closes connection. Great for Amazon, not too secure for me, if I leave browser session running, which I am likely to do.

Hi RedCoyote, Firefox doesn't have a feature to log you out and destroy a site's cookies automatically when you close its last open tab. There might be an add-on that can do it.

Two other options for destroying cookies would be:

(1) Open Amazon pages in a private window. Your private window cookies are kept separate from your regular window cookies, and when you close the last private window, they are flushed.

See: Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history

(2) Open Amazon pages in a Container. The container tabs feature lets you isolate a single tab or a set of tabs without using private browsing. I haven't experimented with isolating a particular site, but you can probably find advice about it on this forum or elsewhere.

See: Multi-Account Containers

However, neither of those would formally log you out.

You should always log out manually when you leave a the website to make sure all cookies are cleared properly.

These are some interesting ideas, I will experiment, though I would recommend this as a desirable default setting option in such a good browser that Firefox is. I recommend Firefox to all my clients though around here the school district is pushing Chrome which I find incredible. I will look for further thoughts here.

I have no issue just closing the tabs. And when I log back in it as for login. So unless you got some plugin saving the login that where I would look as well or check your security software if that isn't saving the login as well. But I also know if you completely close the browser that does exit your login as well. So if you just closing the tab it probably has the login in cache until you close it completely to remove the login. Maybe you should try that as well.
