Does firefox delete sync data if i click on sync now button on a fresh copy of mozilla

I formatted my laptop and logged in to ff account to sync. After waiting 20 minutes with nothing appearing , i clicked on sync now button from tools. Does that replace my existing data with the data from the freshly installes firefox or what.
