Chosen solution

Hi RichardLittle, sorry to hear about this problem. It sounds as though the file might be locked or corrupted.

If you haven't already, as the first step, I suggest doing a normal Quit out of Firefox and a regular shut down and restart of your Mac to release any file locks.

If Firefox still cannot access the logins, possibly you will need to check a backup (e.g., if you use Time Machine). Before that, did you notice any other changes to your data and settings, or is everything else the same? If there were other changes, check your Mac desktop for a folder named Old Firefox Data in case your Firefox performed a Refresh but failed to completely migrate your data.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Hi Viamp, your Firefox seems to have a problem with cookies because when you click the Remember me box, which usually signals the site that you want it to set a persistent cookie that can survive from one Firefox session to the next, it isn't working for some reason. That may have the same effect but is a different enough issue to keep in your thread.
