Never post any personal information because an adware robot could find it, and start sending you all kinds of spam. This includes e-mail, phone, and home information.

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What are the exact error message(s) ?

As to the passwords, are you using any password add-ons/programs?

What is the problem with the add-ons?

it is not possible tot get crm.basenet.nl as my homepage

Please explain more.

I have 2 (brand new) IMac's (computer A en computer B); Safari is the standard browser.

The (only) programme I work with is Basenet. This programme is not compatible with Safari. Therefore, Basenet advises to use Firefox as standard browser. So, Firefox is already set up as my standard browser: computer A as well as computer B.

What shoud be accomplished is that, as soon as my computer starts up, the computer automatically opens up with Basenet (with Firefox as browser). With help from Apple Services I succeeded in this as far as it concerns computer A. Once passwords have been saved at computer A, computer A reminds and recognizes these passwords, even after closing down the computer. And that's exactly the way it should be.

Computer B however: I failed to succeed. Firefox is succesfully installed as standard browser, bu every time I shut down the computer or restart it, all saved passwords have disappeared, and Basenet cannot be installed as start-up page. So every time compuyer B starts up, I have to open Basenet "by hand".

Apple is not willing to help again; Apple sais its my own problem now, because I choose for Firefox instead of Safari. But then again: If Safari becomes my standard browser, Basenet doesn't run 100%

So therefore, I request your help. I think its most efficient to reach me by phone instead of writing mails. So can you please give me a call?

Thanks in advance,

BPG Dijkers

Hello Barthold,

First : Firefox is a free product, and Mozilla, the company that "makes" Firefox, doesn't have the financial means to maintain a professional helpdesk / call center. This is the official Firefox support forum, and most people who answer questions here are volunteers, users just like you, who are trying to help other users in their spare time. Would you please remove your phone number ? This is a public forum where everyone can see it ..... (just use the "Edit" button to the right of your post).

Back to your problem : I don't see you mentioning using a Sync account, which you will need if you want to synchronize your data between two computers.

Would you please take a look at this : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-sync-my-computer

In Dutch : https://support.mozilla.org/nl/kb/hoe-stel-ik-sync-mijn-computer

Take all the time you need to go over the article !

Thanks for your response! The link says the sync account only goes for:

iPads, iPhones en iPod touch-apparaten.

I work, however, with an IMac. Does it make any difference?

I am reading your answer again, and I think you did nog quite "get" my porblem. My two computers do not have to be synchronised or correspond with eachother; they simply should "work" both the same way. So what has to be done, is that computer B saves all my passwords as well, and has to start up with Basenet as well, as soon as computer B starts up.

In addition (just in case) :

You want to set crm.basenet.nl to open at startup (Firefox opens your homepage at startup) - see :

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page

I did "get" your problem; I merely suggested Sync as an option, just in case you didn't know you could sync your devices (and Sync is for all devices, not just mobile devices).

But of course you don't have to use Sync, and you should be able to set up things on computer B, the way you set it up on computer A.

Why that doesn't work in your case : I have no idea, but I'm sure that someone else will come to your rescue .....

How to set the homepage in Dutch (just in case .... ) :

Can't let it go just yet ....

I wonder if you have done the exact same things on computer B as you did on computer A to make sure that logins and passwords are saved, like :

Preferences => Privacy & Security => under "Logins and Passwords" check the box that says "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites"

In the header of your question you mention to also not be able to save
"my pop-ups" - I'm not sure what you mean by that though .... (?)

So, during the session you see the passwords in the Firefox Password Manager, but when you close Firefox then the next time you start Firefox they are no longer there ?

You can check in the profile folder if you have a logins.json.corrupt file in case there is a problem with the files (login data logins.json and key file key4.db) that store the passwords.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
