After an update about a week ago

What update exactly? What version of Thunderbird are you running right now?

I go to add a new calendar, network-no option for Google Calendar.

When you're trying to access an existing Google Calendar already set up in Thunderbird, I'm not sure why you're trying to create a new one.

Your statement above seems to indicate you are using the 'Provider for Google Calendar' extension to connect to your Google Calendar. Is this correct?

If so, is the 'Provider for Google Calendar' extension installed? Which version? Is the extension 'Enabled'?

If the above isn't correct, how do you connect to your Google Calendar?

I have 68.2.2 installed. I am trying to use the Lightening Calendar Extension. I was reading this was the better "Provider for Google Calendar" extension. It was included in the 68.2.2. It tells me it is there under "tools" but it does not show up as an option when trying to connect my Google calendar. I removed the included one and installed the offered one on Mozilla.org. Same stuff. This is after the 3rd uninstall/reinstall. There are no Google Calendars setup in Thunderbird due to the removal/reinstall of the software. That is why I am trying to add one. This version (68.2.2) works at home. I still have my Google Calendar at home. This install here at work broke something after the 68.x.x update about a week ago when other folks calendars went crazy.It has not worked nor will it allow me to reinstall my G calendar either. And???

I'm not sure what you read and what that statement means. To clarify, Lightning is the Thunderbird Calendar extension, and it ships with Thunderbird. The "Provider for Google Calendar" extension is not a replacement for Lightning. It's a separate install which makes setting up a Google Calendar in Lightning easier. In other words, if you're looking for new calendar - network calendar - Google Calendar, you'll need to install the "Provider for Google Calendar" extension.

You can re-install Thunderbird as many times as you want, it won't change a thing.

Are you saying you had a Goggle Calendar set up prior to the Thunderbird upgrade? Then it would still exist in your Thunderbird profile. Profile files are stored separately from the Thunderbird program files. The program files are static and do not change (except when you upgrade the Thunderbird application version). Because we store profile and program files separately, you can uninstall Thunderbird without losing your messages and settings, and if something goes wrong with a Thunderbird update your information will still be available. It also means that you don't have to reinstall Thunderbird in order to delete your information or troubleshoot a problem.

Therefore, there's no point trying to set up another Google Calendar in Thunderbird when it did previously exist already.

Ahhh, the light cometh on! The lightening extension is needed PLUS some Google Calendar Provider. I am having trouble reading some levels of instruction that seem to be shortened to make it easier to read but less instructive. Done. Back to working. You guys/gals are the best. Rll.
