Computer crashed and recovering the Thunderbird profile was very difficult as it was not backed up to one drive automatically. Is there any program that would automatically, or at least easily backup Thunderbird profiles and Firefox favorites at least easily and even bettr on a routine basisi?

There is an add-on, ImportExportTools NG, that includes scheduled backups (see picture). If you were to do backups manually, or automatically through a 3rd-party backup utility, the best thing to do is to copy the Thunderbird folder. Its (hidden) default location in Windows is:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird

The Thunderbird folder contains the profile folder, plus the profiles.ini file that points the TB program to the profile. Restoring a backed up Thunderbird folder, or copying it to another computer, is much easier than restoring the profile folder by itself.

A similar method applies to the Firefox folder:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox

but for automatic backups of bookmarks only, see this post.
