Firefox is having problems to open any Wikipedia.org page. How can I overcome this problem?

more options

When I try to open any page on wikipedia.org, like https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Short, I am redirected to the page https://pt.wikipedia.org/sec-warning.

This is a problem only to Firefox. I have Chrome, Opera, Edge and they all open wikipedia correctly.

I tried to reset Firefox, did not work. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox and it did not work. I uninstalled the Avast and it did not work.

Things you must know: I am not using any proxy. I am in a home network. Windows 10 Pro x64 Version 1909 Compilation 18363.535 My computer date and time is correct.

Chosen solution

Hi,

Thank you for your help.

I did what you told me to and I had to change 2 entries:

security.tls.version.enable-deprecated (was FALSE and I changed to TRUE) security.tls.version.fallback-limit (was 4 and I changed to 1)

It is working now.

Thank you very much!

Please try the following:

  1. Type about:config in your Firefox address bar to open the Configuration Editor for Firefox.
  2. Bypass the warning (we'll be careful).
  3. Enter security.tls.version into the about:config search bar.
  4. Reset each of the listed preferences (there should be 4, see list below).
  5. Restart Firefox.

The following preferences should now have been reset:

  • security.tls.version.enable-deprecated
  • security.tls.version.fallback-limit
  • security.tls.version.max
  • security.tls.version.min

If that doesn't fix the issue, another thing to check are your Connection settings in Firefox. If your system doesn't use a proxy, try the Auto-detect proxy settings for this network, Use system proxy settings or No proxy options to see if any of those fix the problem for you. Make sure to restart Firefox after changing a setting to be able to test it.

Hope this helps.
