Thunderbird rejects hotmail.co.uk password.

So, I'm using Thunderbird 78.5.0 (32-bit).

Recently, it keeps telling my my password for my hotmail.co.uk email is wrong.

It's not; I can login directly to hotmail (outlook) without issue.

The thunderbird profile has always been imap, and I've tried resetting the password, but that doesn't work. It must be a recent change or a non-obvious setting?

Any help appreciated.

Chosen solution

Do you have two-step verification on the account? If so, an app password has to be created and used in place of the account password.
