Firefox for iOS crashing, opening unwanted new tabs

more options

I’m using Firefox Daylight 37.0 (5971) and after updating to iOS 15, Firefox crashes periodically when pressing the “open tabs” icon at the bottom of the screen. I always use Firefox in private browsing mode, if that is important. Also, now whenever I switch to Firefox from another app, it opens up a fresh tab automatically, forcing me to close it, when all I was trying to do was switch to the app.

Yes, exact same thing is happening to me, very frustrating, to say the least. I know this isn’t a helpful reply for you, I just wanted Mozilla to know it is happening to others as well. Some part of it may be the recent Firefox update that added “open Firefox to a new tab if it has been closed for a certain amount of time”. That update was just before the iOS15 update, so there may be an incompatibility issue.

I don't have the crashes, but the unwanted new tabs are annoying. I get the unwanted new tabs when searching something in iOS's spotlight and opening via Firefox. The number of unwanted tabs doubles when in private mode browsing: one in the normal browsing mode and another one in the private browsing mode.
