hi sal, my first initial advice would be to restart your computer. if that doesn't work, take a look at these articles that address the issue you are having, and ways you could potentially fix it: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1030466 -shelby

I did what they say but still not working.

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

Install both 32-bit and 64-bit "Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019" downloads, (x86: vc_redist.x86.exe and x64: vc_redist.x64.exe) from https://support.microsoft.com/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

You may not need the latter (32-bit version) if you use 64-bit Firefox. You may have to reboot the computer.

I installed both 32bit and 64bit VS that you mentioned from link and restart my laptop after each install. but the problem still there. It doesn't get open.

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

I can not Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode, its not working. but right now I am using firefox in windows safe mode (with network support). it means firefox working in the safe mode windows. But when I go to the normal windows, the problem still there. actually I have no extra software in my laptop. my windows is new and the firefox is the first software that I want to install. I just install microsoft edge before firefox. I checked my firewall before. There is no problem with it

the only think that I found out is when I click on Firefox icon, I can see couple of firefox.exe is open in Task Manager in Process tab, But nothing in Applications

Also, disable the firewall.

I have tried the firewall and windows defender before. Turned off both , not working. I don't have any protection program yet, I just re-install the windows

Many have reported issues using the 64bit Firefox. Install the 32bit version from; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

By any chance do you use Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit?

Apparently the recent version 415 update blocks content loading in Firefox (causes dead tabs). So far, I haven't heard that it stopped the window from appearing completely. Either way, MBAE allows you to exempt programs so if you have it, you could try making an exception for Firefox.

Firefox 32bit is not working too. and I don't have Malwarebytes on my system

It drives me crazy :(( I stocked in this problem for last 3 days and I did a lots of research and the problem is not solved

maybe it's time to change my mind about my favorite browser :(

After Firefox starts, if you try to open an external link in Firefox using the following method, any difference? Try pasting the following to the Windows 7 Run dialog (you can open that by holding down the Windows key and tapping R on the keyboard) and then submitting it.

firefox.exe -new-window https://www.mozilla.org/

Anything show up any where?

I did it, nothing happened

I realized something. I opened firefox and left it alone, after I came back in more than 1 hour, I saw "mozilla crash reporter"

I tried to find out what happened in details but its too complicated. I will send the report in the next message, I hope you can find out what is happening

Hi Sal, it's hard to make sense of the raw data, but I notice "AsyncShutdownTimeout" which typically means that you or some program told Firefox to exit, and it took longer than the allowed time (maybe 60 seconds). So that would not resolve the mystery.

To see the data in a more intelligible form: This article mentions how to get the crash report ID from a file on disk --

Firefox crashes - asking for support

-- and then with that information, we can look it up on https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/ by searching the ID in the box at upper right there.

I don't know if this will help

It’s possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder

Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.

Delete all extensions* files and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

After, restart Firefox.

See "Corrupt extension files"

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++ You may have to approve the updating one last time.
