FVD Speed Dial Addon disabled by Mozilla - Not usable anymore - Lost my speed dials

more options

Hi, I would like to ask a question about one of the add-on's for Mozilla browser, it's about FVD Speed Dial. I did not save any speed dials I did have. it worked normally all day, and suddenly I cannot use it nor save my settings to import to another speed dial because it's disabled by Mozilla for security reasons I will attach a screenshot. Is there any way I can recover my speed dial? Are they located on my PC by any chance, I cannot find them in any Mozilla folders? Would be really great if you could help me with this.

Thank you. Violeta

Chosen solution

Hi Violeta, sorry to hear you have this problem.

Some users with paid accounts (or who are willing to sign up for EverHelper @ $5/month for at least one month) are able to access the URLs in Chrome or Opera (and presumably in other supported browsers, maybe including Microsoft Edge).

This is a global setting, and it's definitely not recommended that you allow all blocked extensions to install and run. However, this might enable exporting FVD data so that you can use it in other ways.

Hi

In 2020, we became aware that the developer of the FVD add-on had begun intercepting search queries that were being sent to a third-party search provider, in clear violation of the Mozilla Add-ons Policies. After a repeated violation we again explicitly told them under which circumstances this type of data collection is not acceptable. At the time, the developer disabled the feature, and we continued to host FVD Speed Dial.

Recently we have become aware that the developer has re-enabled the offending functionality, which remains in violation of AMO policy. In light of these repeated offenses, we have blocked this addon. While we regret the impact that this has had on some of our users, we believe that our commitments to user safety and the importance of user trust in Firefox and its surrounding ecosystem have obligated us to take this action, and we stand by this decision.

Hi Seburo, I use Mozilla for a long time I really like it even Developer Edition. I was not aware of FVD add-on doing such a thing, and it's good to be removed. My problem was I never saved any of my speed dial settings, so when this add-on was blocked I lost all. I recovered everything, with the help of @jscher2000 which is good. But is there a possibility to get any kind of notice in advance for any other add-on people might be using that you will block them, so we can replace them?

Thank You. Violeta
