Main Thunderbird window changed. Edit button has disappeared.
My Thunderbird email window now looks like the uploaded image. But it was different until a few days ago ... and I want to put things back the way they were.
See the Reply/Forward/Archive/Junk/Delete/More buttons across the middle of the window? Previously those were NOT there. Instead there was just an Edit button.
I don't want the Reply/Forward/Archive/Junk/Delete/More buttons. I want that Edit button.
Why has this changed? I have not updated Thunderbird. It was at v91.8.1 both before and after this unwanted button change.
The only thing I did recently was to add my new @icloud.com email. I can't see how that would cause the Edit button to disappear.
How can I turn things back to the way they were before?

The option to customize the message header toolbar hasn't been available since Tbird 78. You probably used ad add-on to restore that feature, such as this one https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-GB/thunderbird/addon/msghdr-toolbar-customize.
Hi Stans.
I'm new to Thunderbird. I'm using v91.8.1 and I've only had one update. So I never had the v78 you refer to.
Also ... the only add-ons I have are Addon Compatibility Check and ThunderHTMLedit.
So I still don't understand what caused that Edit button to disappear.
Neither of those two add-ons are responsible for that Edit button, and those buttons that you do not want have always been there in v91 and cannot be removed or altered without using an add-on or customizing the css code that gives style to Thunderbird's interface. The real question here, is how did you have an Edit button there and none of those you do not want.
As you say: The real question here, is how did you have an Edit button there and none of those you do not want.
That's exactly the question. I don't know how buttons can disappear. Thunderbird remains a bit of a mystery to me. (I was an Outlook user for around 25 years!)
Your guess is as good as mine. Thunderbird v91's layout has been the same for me since the first release and numerous updates since then haven't changed anything. Straight out of the box, Thunderbird should look exactly as you see it in that screenshot. Any other look is in fact an alteration. So, what exactly did that Edit button do?
The Edit button was much like right-clicking on a mail item and choosing Edit As New Message from the menu. Except the edited/new message appeared in the Inbox rather than in Drafts.

That sounds like an addon to me. I do not however have any real suggestions as to which one. I recall the conversations addon offers some form of quick reply.
