when i click on the firefox icon on the task bar, it used to open my firefox browser home page, but now it opens a page from xfinity that is a sales page asking if I want to get a new phone, manage my billing, etc. no firefox home page.'

What is the homepage? Did you set one or use the black background default Firefox non-homepage install?
