SMPT SERVER SETTINGS

more options

Your instructions for changing outgoing server settings for Microsoft SMTP server require changing authentication method to OAuth2. Unfortunately this doesn't appear in the drop down menu. I only have No authentication, Norman password, encrypted password, Kerberos/GSSAPI, NTLM. Which of these should I chose instead or how can I get the correct setting to show? Security settings for incoming server settings are fine (ie. OAuth2 can be selected).

OAuth2 should be below NTLM so make sure you're scrolling right down.

Have you set the other things correctly, Server Name to smtp.office365.com, Port 587, Connection security STARTTLS?

Finally are you using an at least fairly recent version of Thunderbird as old ones can't do it.

All the othe things are correct, eg server name etc. Version of Thunderbird is 115.15.0 but there is definitely no OAuth2 below NTLM. Have tried every which way to scroll down further but can't! Help!

Oddly I get the same if I try to add an SMPT server from scratch but not changing an existing one.

I've just seen a reply to another question that suggests re-starting Thunderbird if you can't change it to OAuth2.
