Lost contact lists & saved emails
Moved THUNDERBIRD from program files to another hard drive. Opened thunderbird and it made me start a new 'account'?? Contacts and saved files did not reappear.

If I understand what you wrote, you did not copy the profile. Is this the same computer or a different one? The profile, if available, can be restored.
Same computer just different hard drive. New set up has my emails but only my Google contacts (which I do not use). Need my Thunderbird contacts and saved emails. Thanks
Ok, I am unsure of the details, so let's verify profile location. 1- click help>troubleshootinginformation, 2- scroll down to 'profile folder' on left side and click 'open profile' 3- you are now in Windows File Explorer. Note location of profile. back up one click to the folder named 'Profile.' If there is more than one profile listed, your missing components are probably in the profile not in use. the contacts is a file named abook.sqlite and the messages will be in the Imapmail\<acccount> folder for IMAP, or the Mail\,accountname> for POP. If not found, and if profile is not on drive c, then the missing profile is probably on drive c at c. Look for c:\users\<yourid>\appdata\roaming\thunderbird\profiles\<yourprofile>. Messages will be in sets, such as inbox, inbox.msf, sent, sent.msf. Ignore the msf entries. 4- To install the contacts and messages, do this: - for addressbook, just click tools>import and follow address book options to import sqlite and then select the desired file. - for messages, I suggest using the addon, importexporttools NG. then, highlight Local Folders, rightclick, select the importexport option to import mbox and select one of the message files to save. repeat for each message file.
You got me there! THANK YOU Allan
