FF starts with a virus scan of 'AV Center', telling me I have viruses that I don't have. It's a time waster. Could it be my cache?

Fake AV alerts indicate you're already infected, and the malware just wants to update itself. Only Fx doesn't let this happen automatically, unlike IE.

Your issue may be caused by Malware. You can run and update the following free anti virus software:

2. Spybot Search & Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org

3.Spyware Terminator - http://www.spywareterminator.com

In addition, there are a number of forums you can use to help get rid of your infection. These include:

Wrong, ie still works fine. FF when started, AV is in it's own tab. I tried to uninstall FF and reinstall it, with a restart between. My virus scanner doesn't pick up anything. I also did a registry clean up. I've had the problem years ago too but I can't remember what I did.

I am sorry, I didn't see the links when I replied. Spybot was the program that I used years ago to fix it.
