After trying and then uninstalling SeaMonkey, when I create a shortcut to a page there is a SeaMonkey icon instead of a Firefox one.

When I tried SeaMonke, page shortcut icons were converted from Firefox ones to SeaMonkey ones. After I got rid of SeaMonkey (first I uninstalled it, then I did a file search for "all" remaining SeaMonkey files, and deleted those too), the icons stayed converted. I deleted the shortcuts and made new ones. The new shortcuts also had SeaMonkey icons instead of Firefox ones.

Try resetting Firefox as the default browser. If using the options dialog to set Firefox as the default does not work, use the option to force Firefox to be the default as shown at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Default_browser
