keyword.url keeps changing to gobrs.com
As described above, i noticed when i searched from adress bar my search results looked different. I checked about:config - keyword.url and found it was set at "http://www.gobrs.com/search/?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&rls=EhWaMnPB&q=", not something that im aware of doing.
Tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode and changing it back to my preferred search engine choice but keeps going back to the above, even tried disabling add-ons etc have looked at plugins that i use and none seem to have anything to do with this problem.
Uninstalled recent applications which i have downloaded and still no luck.

For possible causes see How to fix preferences that won't save.
To be safe, I recommend checking for malware. Try running several malware scanners. It is best to run several as each will pick up things that the others miss. Some scanners you can try are:
thanks for your help, did what you recommended, however nothing showed up, tried looking for an answer on Google, and came up with editing my user.js file, checked that out and it seems that had the "http://www.gobrs.com" written into it by something and was overwriting my preferences every time i restarted firefox, so set my user.js file back to google and alls good now.
Hope this helps anyone else with similar problems
That was one of the options in the How to fix preferences that won't save article.
I'm running Firefox 3.6.12 in Windows XP Service Pack 3.
I had this problem too, and the suggestions didn't help in my case. Every time I searched using the Google search tool, the search would go through the address www.gobrs.com before forwarding to Google. I don't know what caused this, and I can only assume that gobrs.com is collecting search data or mining for private info.
Anyway, I blocked it by adding these lines to my Windows hosts file:
127.0.0.1 www.gobrs.com
127.0.0.1 gobrs.com
This worked, although I then had to remove the search tool and add a new one because it still tried to go to gobrs.com.
