The field where the url should be visible, has shrunk so that I cannot see the url. I want to restore that field so that I can see the entire url.

Until a few days ago, I was able to read any reasonably short url in the familiar field or space at the top of the Firefox screen. Suddenly, that field, I mean the space where I might type a url, has shrunk. How can I restore that field? And incidentally what is that field called? Is it the address bar or the navigation bar or what?

Chosen solution

It's called 'location bar', try to move mouse to its right edge. The cursor should obtain a ' <->' shape and you can click and drag it to the right to increase the location bar size.

If that doesn't work, open the safe mode dialog, tick 'reset all toolbars and controls', press 'save changes and restart'.

Thank you. Your first (mouse-based) solution fixed it.
