Firefox is preventing Java from loading Pogo games which require it
I have just updated to the latest Firefox and now java is being prevented from loading Pogo games which require it. I have unchecked the block popups box and enabled java script but each time I try to load I get a message on the java concol saying permission denied. I went to IE8 (yuck) and the game loaded fine. Help please.
Chosen solution
Mozilla are aware of the issue and are working on a fix, no timescale but they are planning on a quick release. Firefox 3.6.15 will fix the issue with some Java applets not working, which has caused many Pogo games to stop functioning.

Thank you very much Tony
Having same issue in Pogo. Can't use firefox unless it's a flash game, and it does work on those. Strange but true!
For as much as I spend on membership there I don't need these problems... I DIDN'T update my FF it happened automatically which * me off since i like to wait until all the bugs are gone...

Until today I have never had a problem with pogo - today when I load the "room" or "lobby" the page is black, so cannot play in any pogo games - is there anything else I need to do to allow me to play again, please?
can we go back to version 3.613 until they fix the problem?
You can go back to 3.6.13, you can get it from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.13
I am having these Java problems and when I download 3.6.13 I get the message "Extraction Failed can not find archive file."
went there and nothing
The Windows English US version of 3.6.13 is available from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.13/win32/en-US/
I went back to old but still getting black screen.....Grrrrrr.. is there something else I am missing? It seems to be crashing the java? It starts then closes!!!!!
OK I fixed it.... you have to go to tools and click content un check and then re check enable java... :-)

I appreciated the fact that you now know there is a problem but this same thing has happened in the past when Firefox Updates are automatically applied. I've spent the greater part of today going through all the troubleshooting items Mozilla recommends successfully wasting a great deal of time. Luckily I decided to check the question one more time before uninstalling Firefox and starting all over. Please find a way to insure that this doesn't happen in the future.
I and friends have had same problem (java crash/ security denied) on pogo applets on both firefox3.6.14 (winXP) and on firefox beta (winVista) ....with same problem for about 6 months, intermitten at times..and now sometimes completely locked out of game & lobby with symptom black screen then booted..I have removed java completely and reloaded 6.24 to no avail., cleared all 'histories/cache' in firefox and java, I tried that 'turn off/turn on again' of java in the firefox tool options, problem persists if using addons no script or adblock plus turned on or off. Its like you almost get to the game, and then it never 'verifys' or pogo never gets the final step in loading the game...therefore the java 'access denied' will come up if you RT CLICK on the black screen and check to see what is the problem, all the other stuff of the game seems to load like pixs and scripts and stuff. THIS IS ALOT TO DO WITH POGO specific...other game site that uses 'game applet' works ok.

When I click on this link I go to a site, but don't understand how to download this format.
Sorry to contradict but it is not Pogo specific. Before I made the initial post on this matter, I went and tried to load some Yahoo games which also require Java and the would not load giving an error message saying "error during loading". As with the Pogo games, they will load with Internet Explorer which I hate using.
The option to turn of automatic updates is availible in the settings dialog....

Here's the direct link to version 3.6.13:http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.13/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%203.6.13.exe

Thanks, Let me know when the problem is solved. Roger
For some reason today even after going back to the old version of FF java is NOW crashing again. Even after I turn it on and off again. IT worked for a little while yesterday but now it is acting up again.... Did the initial upgrade change something that didnt revert back after going back to the older version?
I am beyond frustrated.
@kccat5 Did you update to Firefox 3.6.15? It just came out today. It should fix all the problems with Java.
