FireFox will still not let me go to usual sites and enter a password

Co-rel,

I only found one cookies.sqlite to delete. I also found one cookies.sqlite-shm AND one cookies.sqlite-wal. I did not know to leave them or delete them, so they are still there. If I need to delete them, let me know.

Also, when I open FireFox and follow tools>options>privacy and look at the dropdown menu "FireFox will:" it is stuck on "Remember History". No matter how many times I change it to "use custom settings" to insure that 3rd party cookies are accepted, it defaults to Remember History. Any ideas? I still can not log-on to my usual sites.

That is OK. If all settings are the default then Firefox will hide the details and show the "Remember History" setting.

You test if it works in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode (Tools > Start Private Browsing).

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select:
Tools > Options > Privacy : [X] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

Co-rel,

Using Private Browsing Only did not make a difference at all. I still can not log on to my normal sites. One site did give an error of "your browser is not accepting 3rd party cookies"

At one point I did delete FireFox and re-downloaded it to see if that would make a difference. At that time during the uninstall (via add/remove programs in control panel) I was asked if I wanted to delete remaining personal information and settings. I just assumed that would delete my much needed Bookmarks, so I did not delete this information between installs. If I tried again, uninstalling FireFox 4 and reinstalling it but this time deleting all personal settings, would I lose my book marks, would I solve my current problem?
